Columbus Westside Running Club

It's official.  The Columbus Westside Running Club rocks!  We held our one week club mileage competition from April 20-26, and you all combined to log 2,354.11 miles for the week.  That was the most mileage of any central Ohio running or walking club - but by popular demand, CWRC isn't stopping there.

As a club, you've set a new challenge for yourself.  The club is now attempting to run a lap around the world - all  24,901 miles - by the 4th of July and the running of the Hilltop U.S.A. 5k.  Time to rally together to work towards the big goal!
The official contest portion of this challenge may be wrapped up, but good luck as you all chase this new, incredible goal!

PRIZES
These are the prize tiers from the original, one week mileage contest held in April.  e-Gift cards have been emailed out to all participants from that original timeframe.  Congrats!

  • Tier 2, I-270: It’s just under 55 miles to drive the full loop around 270.  If your club hits 55 miles for the week, every participating club member receives a $10 gift card to the CRC.  Your club also gains access to the VIP Club Tent on race day.
  • Tier 3, the Metro Parks: There are just over 230 miles of trails within the Columbus Metro Park system.  If your club hits 230 miles for the week, every participating club member receives a $15 gift card to the CRC.  Your club also gains access to the VIP Club Tent on race day.
  • Tier 4, the Buckeye Trail: It takes 1,444 miles to loop Ohio on the Buckeye Trail.  If your club hits 1,444 miles for the week, every participating club member receives a $20 gift card to the CRC - and we’ll host an ASICS experience run & walk at one of your club gatherings later this year.  Your club also gains access to the VIP Club Tent on race day.
  • Tier 5, Coast-to-Coast: You’ll cover 2,777 miles driving from NYC to LA, cutting through Columbus on the way.  If your club hits 2,777 miles for the week, every participating club member receives a $25 gift card to the CRC - and we’ll host an ASICS experience run & walk at one of your club gatherings later this year.  Your club also gains access to the VIP Club Tent on race day.
  • Tier 6, Round the World: The circumference of the world is 24,901 miles.  If your club hits 24,901 miles for the week, every participating club member receives a $30 gift card to the CRC - and we’ll host an ASICS experience run & walk at one of your club gatherings later this year.  Your club also gains access to the VIP Club Tent on race day.
FAQ:
Question: Do I have to officially sign up for this mileage challenge?
Answer: Nope.  If you're a member of the club, just post your mileage through the form above each day.  That's all it takes!

Question: Does it matter if I'm walking or running?
Answer: The marathon & 1/2 marathon are all about moving forward, and so is this challenge.  Walkers and runners are both invited to take part.

Question: If my club hits a tier and is eligible for a prize, how do we claim that prize?
Answer: We'll be in touch with club leadership to deliver e-gift cards, set up access to the VIP Club Tent on race day, and to schedule ASICS experience runs & walks for clubs that qualify.

Question: Do all club members win prizes?  Or just those who take part in the challenge?
Answer: Individual prizes, like CRC gift cards, will be limited to those club members who log a run or walk through this challenge.  Group prizes, like access to the VIP Club Tent on race day and ASICS experience runs & walks, will be available to the full club.

Question: As my club climbs the tiers, can we claim prizes from multiple tiers?
Answer: Your club earns the prizes from whichever tier you finish within.  So, if your club reaches Tier 5, the equivalent of running coast-to-coast, you'll win the Tier 5 prizes - but you won't also win prizes from tiers 1-4.  Each tier gets better as you level up though, so keep chasing glory for the pride of your club!

More than anything, we're excited to share some early season miles with you and the club.  We may not be able to run or walk alongside one another on the paths at the moment, but we can support one another and stick to those goals we've set for the year.  Good luck!
